Brown trips No. 5 Villanova; No. 1 Albany rolls

Luke McCaleb scored twice, including the go-ahead goal, during a 4-0 run in the fourth quarter as visiting Brown upset No. 5 Villanova, 12-9, in men’s lacrosse Tuesday.

The Bears (2-2) trailed 7-2 with 4:08 left in the first half. McCaleb, who finished with a hat trick, started a 4-0 run that spanned both halves and drew Brown to within 7-6.

Keegan Kahn gave the Wildcats (5-1) their last lead, 9-8, with 9:37 left to play. Brown started its second 4-0 run with a goal by Jake Miller with 8:15 left. McCaleb scored the goahead goal with 6:18 left and the final goal with 1:31 remaining.

Devin McNamara (Loyola Blakefield), Danny Seibel and Colin Crowley each scored twice for Villanova.

NO. 1 ALBANY 19, MASSACHUSETTS 8: Connor Fields had a career-high12 points on five goals and seven assists to lead the visiting Great Danes (4-0) past the Minutemen (1-4).

Fields is tied for second place in school history for points in a game. Miles Thompson holds the school record with14 against Stony Brook on April 27, 2013.

NO. 16 GEORGETOWN13, MARIST 6: Jake Carraway (St. Mary’s) and Daniel Bucaro each scored three goals to lead the host Hoyas (5-0) past the Foxes (1-6).

Carraway finished with a careerhigh seven points on three goals and four assists. Georgetown broke a1-1 tie with a 5-0 run.

NO. 20 PENN STATE 16, FURMAN 5: The Nittany Lions (4-2) opened with an 11-0 run and were never threatened by the Paladins (0-6) in a game played at Georgetown Prep.

SALISBURY 13, ROWAN 10: Dana King had a game-high six goals to pace the host Sea Gulls (4-0) past the Profs (1-1). Salisbury opened with a 4-0 run and led start to finish.

Nation women

NO. 11 PENN 16, DREXEL 11: Caroline Cummings and Gabby Rosenzweig each scored four goals to lead the visiting Quakers (5-0) past the Dragons (1-4).

Penn trailed by two goals at the half before outscoring Drexel 13-6 in the second half.
