East Amherst, N.Y., attackman The top-ranked Great Danes’ first victory in four games against No. 2 Maryland was sparked by Fields. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Tewaaraton Award finalist led all scorers with six points on four goals and two assists in Saturday’s 11-10 win. With Albany trailing 10-6 after three quarters, Fields had a hand in three of his team’s five goals in the final stanza. He started the run with a goal, assisted sophomore midfielder Jakob Patterson’s tally, and then scored the eventual game-winner with 76 seconds left in regulation. On the ensuing faceoff, Fields picked up the ground ball to cement the victory. Fields, who leads all Division I players in points per game at 7.2, was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week.

Taylor VanThof, Loyola Maryland, junior

Livonia, N.Y., midfielder VanThof won 17 draws and scored seven goals, including the game-winner over Towson in triple overtime last week. In the 14-13 upset of then-No. 10 Towson, she scored four goals and had 10 draw controls. She controlled the last three draws in regulation as the Greyhounds rallied from six goals down at the half. Saturday, she scored three goals and had seven draw controls in a 13-7 win over then-No. 13 Princeton as the Greyhounds (3-2) won their third straight game over a top-15 team. With the upsets, the Greyhounds moved from No. 18 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll to No. 12 this week. A two-time All-Patriot League selection, VanThof holds school records for most draw controls in a game (21) and in a season (146).
