Davis sends Dundalk past Chesapeake in boys lacrosse
St. Paul’s girls roll over Garrison Forest, 12-7
Hassan Davis had the game-tying and game-winning goals to lead visiting Dundalk boys lacrosse to a 10-9 overtime victory over Chesapeake-BC in the season-opener for both teams Friday night.
The Owls never led until Davis scored the game-winner. Davis finished with six goals and an asssist.
NO. 1 CALVERT HALL 11, CONESTOGA (PA.) 6: North Carolina-bound Jacob Kelly had two goals and five assistst to lead the host Cardinals (5-1) past the Pioneers (0-1). Calvert Hall took a 2-1 lead in the first quarter and built a 5-2 halftime advantage. Other two-goal scorers for the Cardinals were Daniel Kelly and Peter Ilardo.
NO. 5 LOYOLA BLAKEFIELD 19, BEL AIR 5: The visiting Dons improved to 4-1 by beating the Bobcats (0-1).
MALVERN PREP (PA.) 8, NO. 7 GILMAN 6: The Friars (1-1), ranked No. 16 nationally by Under Amour/Inside Lacrosse Top 25 poll, opened with a 3-0 run and kept the Greyhounds (2-1) at bay at US Lacrosse Stadium in Sparks.
Gilman went on a 4-1 run in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 5-4, but Malvern Prep answered with two goals over a 1-minute span in the fourth quarter. The Greyhounds couldn’t get closer than two goals.
Gilman’s Tyler Witherspoon scored the last goal of the game with 27 seconds left.
NO. 13 HOWARD 5, MARRIOTTS RIDGE 3: Howard opened its season with a 5-3 victory over visiting Marriotts Ridge. The host Lions (0-1) scored twice in the final four minutes to beat the Mustangs (0-1). Howard midfielder Connor Denicola had a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lead the offense.
JOHNCARROLL8, C.M. WRIGHT1: Jacob Lotz had eight saves for the host Patriots (1-2). The Mustangs fell to 0-1.

NO. 12 ST. PAUL’S 14, GARRISON FOREST 7: Shelton Sawers scored four goals to lead the visiting Gators (1-0, 1-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) past the Grizzlies (0-2, 0-2). Kaylan Silva had a hat trick for Garrison Forest.
JOHN CARROLL 13, SEVERN 7: Molly Lynch and Lexi Burch each had a hat trick to lead the host Patriots (2-0, 1-0 IAAM A Conference) past the Admirals (2-1, 0-1).
