Red Sox: 1B Hanley Ramirez’s bases-loaded fly ball over a drawn-in outfield broke a 12thinning tie and the Red Sox, who rallied from a two-run deficit in the ninth, beat the Rays 3-2 to win their home opener Thursday. It was the sixth straight victory for the Red Sox and new manager Alex Cora, and the sixth loss in a row for the Rays. LHP Bobby Poyner (1-0) threw two innings and struck out three for his first major-league win.

Rangers: LHP Martin Perez pitched into the sixth inning in his first start of the season and the Rangers held on to beat the Athletics 6-3. DH Shin-Soo Choo homered for the second consecutiv­e day and OF Nomar Mazara added two hits to help the Rangers split the four-game series. 3B Adrian Beltre singled and doubled to pass Rod Carew as the all-time hits leader among Latin American-born players and is now tied with Rickey Henderson for 23rd place on the career list with 3,055 hits.

Rockies: 1B Ryan McMahon drew a bases-loaded walk off All-Star closer Brad Hand to break a scoreless tie in the ninth inning and 2B DJ LeMahieu added a two-run single for the Rockies, who beat the Padres 3-1 to take three of four in the series. The Rockies finished with just four hits.

Phillies: RHP Nick Pivetta struck out nine over 52⁄ innings, 3B Maikel Franco had three hits and four RBIs, and the Phillies won their first home opener since 2011 with a 5-0 victory over the Marlins. Franco included a homer and triple among his hits.

Twins: C Mitch Garver hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh, one inning after 3B Miguel Sano tied the game with a two-run shot, as the Twins powered their way past the Mariners for a 4-2 victory in their home opener. OF Eddie Rosario went deep in the eighth to pad the lead. Reliever Fernando Rodney worked the ninth for his first save with the Twins, capping a stretch of 42⁄ scoreless innings by the bullpen in relief of RHP Kyle Gibson.
