Calvert Hall basketball star backs out of commitment

Calvert Hall basketball standout Brendan Adams has decommitte­d from Rhode Island, according to Cardinals coach John Bauersfeld. The 6-foot-4 point guard, a four-year varsity player, received his release from his letter of intent Tuesday. Adams committed to Rhode Island to play for coach Dan Hurley, who stepped down to take over the Con- necticut program March 22. Assistant coach David Cox was promoted to head coach at Rhode Island. Adams is a three-star player ranked No. 139 nationally in the Rivals150 for the 2018 class. He averaged 18 points, four rebounds and three assists per game in his senior season. Bauersfeld said Adams has already been contacted by Connecticu­t, Xavier and Seton Hall. MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Johns Hopkins senior attackman Shack Stanwick was selected as one of 10 finalists nationwide for the Senior CLASS Award.
