Two killed, seven injured in weekend city violence

Nine people have been shot, two fatally, in separate incidents in Baltimore since Friday evening, according to Baltimore police. At about 9 p.m. Saturday, police said, officers were called to the 700 block of N. Collington Ave. in Baltimore’s Middle East neighborho­od, where they found a 30-year-old man who died of gunshot wounds after being taken to a hospital. About a half-hour later, another man died after being shot not far away, at Caroline and Preston streets in the Oliver neighborho­od, police said. The man, 38, died after being taken to a hospital. On Sunday morning, at about 11:15, officers responded to the intersecti­on of Patterson Park Avenue and McElderry Street in the McElderry Park neighborho­od, where they found a 15-year-old boy who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital, police said. At around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg in the 3500 block of W. Franklin St. in Allendale. Police said the man told investigat­ors he was in the 2500 block of W. Franklin St. when he was shot. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Two women were wounded in a double shooting in the Curtis Bay neighborho­od of South Baltimore. Officers were called to the 1600 block of Hazel St. at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday and found a 32-year-old woman shot in the arm and a 22-year-old woman shot in the back, police said. Both women were taken to local hospitals for treatment, police said. Police said they believe the women were “involved in an argument” before the shooting occurred. The other three victims were all shot Friday. At about 5:10 p.m., a patrol officer heard gunshots in the 2200 block of Harford Road, in the East Baltimore Midway neighborho­od. Shortly afterward, an 18-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, police said. At about 8:15 p.m., officers were called to a local hospital for a 57-year-old man who had arrived with a gunshot woundtothe­leg. Police believe the man shot himself in the 300 block of Herring Court, in the Perkins Homes neighborho­od in Southeast Baltimore. They did not say whether the shooting was accidental or intentiona­l. At about 9:10 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting near Luzerne Avenue and Biddle Street, in the Biddle Street neighborho­od in East Baltimore, and found a 21-year-old manshot in the chest. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not say whether any of the shootings this weekend were related.
