Paul Nixon struck out 11 and No. 2 Archbishop Curley beat No. 1 John Carroll, 9-2, in baseball Tuesday.
Nixon (7-1) pitched seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits. The host Friars (23-3, 14-2 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) have won 11 in a row. The Patriots fell to 17-2, 11-2.

NO. 3 CALVERTHALL18, JOHNCARROLL 6: North Carolina-bound Jacob Kelly set a school record for career assists as the host Cardinals (12-3, 6-2 MIAA A Conference) beat the Patriots (4-11. 0-7). Kelly had two goals and five assists and has 169 career assists.
Jacob’s brother Daniel Kelly and Jack Sawyer each had five goals and two assists for Calvert Hall, which led 9-3 at the half.
