Patterson Mill tops Century

Koehn strikes out 13 to lead Huskies; Loyola upsets John Carroll

Austin Koehn struck out13 of the15 batters he faced and No. 11 Patterson Mill shut out No. 8 Century, 12-0, in baseball Wednesday.

Koehn went five innings and gave up one hit for the win. Offensivel­y, he went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

The visiting Huskies improved to 11-4, and the Knights fell to 14-4. Max Elliott led Patterson Mill by going 3-for-3 with a double, a three-run home run and five RBIs.

LOYOLA BLAKEFIELD 5, NO. 1 JOHN CARROLL 2: The visiting Dons (11-8, 9-6 Maryland Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n A Conference) handed the Patriots (17-3, 11-3) their second straight loss this week.

John Carroll lost, 9-2, to No. 2 Archbishop Curley on Tuesday.

CATONSVILL­E 5, NO.7 DULANEY 1: Kyle Ryan gave up one run in the sixth inning for the win and the host Comets (8-5) upset the Lions (15-2). Catonsvill­e scored two runs in the first inning.

OLD MILL 11, NO. 14 NORTH COUNTY 4: Starter Spencer Haines struck out six and allowed just three hits over six innings as the Patriots (12-7) beat the host Knights (12-6).

“I thought wewere going to hit and struggle on the mound, but our pitching has been there,” Old Mill coach Charlie Chaffin said. “I knew Spencer was a top-end guy, but he had not thrown a lot and stretched himself out. We are getting more and more comfortabl­e with him going deeper into games.”

NO. 15 PATTERSON MILL 15, HAVRE DE GRACE 0: Leah DuBois pitched seven innings, gave up two hits and struck out 12 for the win as the host Huskies (13-1) beat the Warriors (3-12). Every player for Patterson Mill had at least one hit and one RBI.

EDGEWOOD 9, ELKTON 1: Winning pitcher Lexi Buchanan gave up one run on five hits and struck out four to pace the visiting Rams (8-6) past the Golden Elks (6-9). Buchanan also had a double and an RBI.
