Mets: Jacob deGrom matched a career high with 13 strikeouts and Michael Conforto went 4for-4 with two RBIs in a 3-1 win over the Diamondbac­ks. Slumping Paul Goldschmid­t struck out all four times against deGrom (4-0), who gave up six hits and walked none. ... CF Juan Lagares is expected to miss the rest of the season and have surgery to repair a completely torn ligament in the big toe of his left foot.

Diamondbac­ks: RHP Clay Buchholz, who hasn’t pitched in the majors in more than a year, is likely to start for the Diamondbac­ks on Sunday. Buchholz, who pitched for the Red Sox for 10 years, signed a minor-league deal after the Royals released him.

Marlins: Dan Straily struck out six in seven three-hit innings as the Marlins blanked the Braves 2-0. J.T. Realmuto tripled in one run and Starlin Castro doubled home the other. Nick Markakis, hitting .343, had three hits for the Braves, who were shut out for the just second time.

Padres: Eric Hosmer doubled twice and scored the go-ahead run in a 3-2 win over the Pirates that was Tyson Ross’ first victory in more than a month. Ross gave up two runs on five hits in six innings. OF Austin Meadows made his major-league debut and had two hits and a stolen base for the Pirates, who suffered just their second loss in 10 games. ... 3B Chase Headley was released.

Orioles: Jonathan Schoop homered in a 7-4 win over the Red Sox that ended the Orioles’ 13-game road losing streak. Alex Cobb (1-5) got his first win with the Orioles despite allowing three runs on 10 hits over 61⁄ innings. Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Mookie Betts doubled twice and hit his 14th homer for the Red Sox.

Athletics: Dustin Fowler hit his first career home run and had a tiebreakin­g RBI double in a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays. Josh Phegley added an RBI double in his season debut. LHP Brett Anderson lasted just one inning before leaving because of a strained shoulder for the A’s, who have won four of five.
