Tigers: 1B Miguel Cabrera, who went on the disabled list May 4 with a right hamstring strain, could return to the lineup in the coming days. Cabrera took batting practice and ran in the outfield before Friday’s home game against the White Sox and said afterward he felt good and expects to return soon.

Angels: Shohei Ohtani likely will rejoin the Angels rotation next week. The 23-year-old rookie, the majors’ first two-way player in decades, was on track to start Sunday at Yankee Stadium against countryman Masahiro Tanaka, but the Angels said Thursday that Ohtani will miss the turn as a part of workload management. He pitched 72⁄ innings and threw 110 pitches, both season highs, last Sunday.

Rays: RHP Nate Eovaldi is scheduled to make his first major-league start since having a second Tommy John surgery when the Rays face the A’s on Tuesday night. Eovaldi, who last appeared in the majors in August 2016 while playing for the Yankees, is looking to become the 12th pitcher to start after undergoing two such operations.

Blue Jays: Major League Baseball extended the administra­tive leave of closer Roberto Osuna through June 4, the third time the initial seven-day period was lengthened. Osuna was first put on leave May 8 after being arrested and charged with as- saulting a woman in Canada.

Yankees: 1B Greg Bird will be activated from the DL before Saturday’s game against the Angels. Bird had right ankle surgery March 27 and is 8-for-39 (.205) with three homers and eight RBIs over 12 games in a minorleagu­e injury-rehabilita­tion assignment.

Nationals: RHP Max Scherzer gave up season highs in runs and hits but was still able to win his seventh straight and improve to 8-1 as the Nationals beat the Marlins 9-5. OF Michael A. Taylor and 1B Matt Adams each hit a two-run homer for the Nationals, and OF Bryce Harper’s two-run double in the seventh broke the game open.
