Giants, Nationals: Eight extrabase hits propelled the Giants to a 9-5 victory over the Nationals, who lost RHP Stephen Strasburg after two innings with tightness in his right shoulder. Strasburg, who gave up three runs on five hits, will have an MRI. There is no timetable for his next outing. Andrew McCutchen and Gorkys Hernandez homered and Brandon Crawford doubled twice for the Giants, who had 15 hits.

Brewers: Ryan Braun homered twice and drove in five runs to key a 12-4 rout of the Phillies that snapped a three-game skid. Christian Yelich also homered, and Lorenzo Cain added two hits and two RBIs. The Phils have dropped three in a row.

Astros: Justin Verlander struck out nine in seven innings after Shin-Soo Choo homered on his first pitch, and the Astros beat the Rangers 7-3. Verlander’s major-league-best ERA rose to 1.45.

Yankees: Brett Gardner hit a tiebreakin­g two-run homer in a 4-1 victory over the Mets after losing Masahiro Tanaka. Tanaka allowed just a home run to Brandon Nimmo but left before the sixth with tight hamstrings after running the bases.

I ndians: Jason Kipnis’ tiebreakin­g three-run homer in the ninth provided a 4-1 victory over the Tigers. Trevor Bauer struck out 12 in eight innings. He has struck out 37 in 21 innings over his last three starts.

Mariners: Marco Gonzales gave up two runs on five hits in 71⁄ innings to win his fourth straight start, a 4-3 victory over the Rays. The Mariners’ 20th one-run win was their 16th victory in 20 games. The Rays lost their eighth in a row.

Blue Jays: J.A. Happ allowed two hits in seven innings to earn his 100th career victory, Russell Martin homered and drove in two runs and the Blue Jays beat the Orioles 5-1.

Diamondbac­ks: Paul Goldschmid­t continued his sizzling June with two long home runs and a double in a 9-4 win over the Rockies. Goldschmid­t had just 14 hits in May but already has 13 hits in seven games this month.
