Ex-Terp Mullins traded by D.C. United to Columbus

D.C. United have acquired $150,000 in targeted allocation money from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for forward Patrick Mullins (Maryland). The 26-year-old forward made 44 Major League Soccer regular-season appearance­s for the United since being acquired on July 20, 2016 from New York City FC. He scored 13 goals and recorded three assists in three seasons with United. Mullins was United’s joint leading scorer last season with five goals. MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UMBC will host American on Nov. 24 and travel to Coppin State on Dec. 3, the school announced. The Retrievers will play at Penn State on Dec. 29. The Retrievers are 3-0 all-time against the Nittany Lions, the defending National Invitation Tournament champions. ... The lawyer for the ex-girlfriend of LeSean McCoy says the Bills running back orchestrat­ed an attack that left her bloody amid attempts to get her to leave his suburban Atlanta mansion. Attorney Tanya Mitchell Graham says in a statement that her client was assaulted Tuesday by a man who entered the home with no signs of forced entry. The man demanded jewelry that had been given to her by McCoy, who had requested the items back. The Associated Press is not identifyin­g the woman, pending further details of the attack. ... Police say former Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was attacked by a facility-service employee at Hartsfield­Jackson Atlanta Internatio­nal Airport. Atlanta Police spokesman Jarius Daugherty says Jones confronted ABM Industries employee Frank Ragin after Ragin made a “gesture” toward the football player Tuesday. Police say words were exchanged before Ragin punched Jones. ... The Giants spent a 2019 third-round draft pick on Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal, and the Redskins selected Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander in the sixth round of the supplement­al draft. The Giants will surrender their third-round pick in next April’s draft, while the Redskins give up a sixth-rounder. Both players were ruled academical­ly ineligible for the upcoming college football season.

The Red Wings agreed to a two-year, $6.6 million contract with Anthony Mantha. The 23-year-old wing led the team with 24 goals last season.
