The last time the Blast players were on the field together, they were in Mexico celebrating another Major Arena Soccer League championship in late March. Tonight, Blast fans can get an early look at the three-time defending champions.

The home team will host the Canadian national arena soccer team in an exhibition set for 7:05 at Towson University’s SECU Arena. The majority of the Blast players will be in uniform for the international friendly, the first of its kind for the franchise.

Canada, which is preparing for the World Minifootball Federation Arena Soccer World Cup in October, features several familiar MASL players and is coached by Giuliano Oliviero of the Milwaukee Wave.

“It’s always good to get back in uniform, play with the guys and represent the Blast organization. I know the guys are excited to see what we can do,” veteran Blast defender Pat Healey (Towson University, Exhibition SECU Arena, Towson Tonight, 7:05 Calvert Hall) said.

The Blast’s 2018-19 season will begin at the end of October with open tryouts, followed by training camp in November and the regular-season opener the first week in December. The league schedule is expected to be released in September.

Right now, the players are training on their own, working at youth summer camps and also coaching youth teams. In addition to Healey, fan favorites Vini Dantas, Tony Donatelli and Adriano Dos Santos will be among the Blast players set to play. Some familiar MASL standouts will be representing the Canadian team, including Vahid Assadpour, Freddy Moojen and Marco Terminesi.

While just a friendly competition, Blast coach Danny Kelly expects to see a spirited game.

“It’s Canada vs. U.S., and just like when we play a Mexican team, it will have a special feel,” he said. “It should be an entertaining night. We’re trying to put the pieces together and put on a good show.”

Tickets, which range from $23 to $50, can be purchased at ticketmaster.com, by contacting the Blast at 410-732-5278 or at the door. The Blast will be wearing special red, white and blue jerseys and shorts that will be auctioned off during the game.
