Maryland State Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on the Baltimore Beltway in which a man got out of his 2018 Nissan and was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. The victim was identified as Michael C. Dent, 38, of Catonsville, according to police. Police say the accident took place Wednesday evening on the outer loop of Interstate 695 after Dent’s Nissan hit the back of another car on the ramp from Security Boulevard in the Woodlawn area. Police said that according to witnesses, Dent then exited his Nissan into a lane on I-695 and was struck by a tractor-trailer. Dent’s unoccupied car then continued for a quarter-mile before it stopped against the side jersey barrier, according to police. Police originally reported that witnesses said Dent jumped out of his vehicle, but police have since said they are still investigating how he ended up outside of his vehicle. No other injuries were reported, including occupants of the original car that was struck. more City responded and brought the fire under control in 20 minutes as residents of the 500 block of Church Street looked on. A 41-year-old woman escaped the fire and was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, department spokesman Lt. Erik Kornmeyer said Wednesday. There were no other injuries, but four adults and three children have been displaced and have been assisted by the Red Cross, the department said in a news release Thursday. The fire left the small house steaming, with broken front windows. Firefighters in full gear dumped water bottles over their heads to cool off on the 92-degree day with a heat index of 102 degrees.
