Giampalmo provides spark for Gladiators

Midfielder has two assists in Glenelg field hockey win; Garrison Forest tops Bulls

Midfield Jenny Giampalmo had two assists to pace No. 10 Glenelg to a 2-0 victory over River Hill in field hockey Tuesday.

The Gladiators improved to 2-0 and the Hawks fell to 1-3.

“She’s a great leader, and just her overall spacial awareness and her off-ball play on the field is so awesome,” Trunzo said. “She’s not always in the play like with the ball, but she can see where she needs to be for support.”

Senior forwards Mallory Jubb and Tess Muneses scored the goals for the Gladiators.

“This is our second game of the season, and obviously we’re a little sloppy, but I think we’re playing pretty well,” Giampalmo said. “We have a lot to prove this season, and I think we have a pretty good shot at making a good run in playoffs.”

NO. 4 GARRISON FOREST 3, NO. 15 HEREFORD 0: Leigh James had a hat trick to lead the host Grizzlies (5-0) past the Bulls (1-3). Savannah Rumsey made 10 saves for Garrison Forest.

NO. 13 DULANEY 3, CATONSVILL­E 0: Zoe Hermann scored two first-half goals and Sidney Snyder added one in the second half to lift the Lions (3-1) over the host Comets (0-1).

NO. 4C. MILTONWRIG­HT2, CENTURY1: Jayson Butler and Aidan Moraneachs­cored to lead the host Mustangs (3-1) over the Knights (2-1). C.M. Wright led1-0 at the half.

NO. 6 MEADE 4, ANNAPOLIS 1: Tosin Ayokunle had a hat trick to lead the host Mustangs (2-0) past the Panthers (0-1). Meade outshot Annapolis, 12-6.

Girls soccer

NO. 9 MERCY 6, SEVERN 2: Ada Clare Tempert and Laine Reddish each had two goals for the visiting Magic (3-0) in their victory over the Admirals (0-3).
