Man, 73, killed in road rage incident

Argument led to shooting on Liberty Heights Avenue

A road rage encounter Wednesday led to the fatal shooting of 73-year-old Lawrence “Tony” Price in Northwest Baltimore, his son said.

Lionel Price said his father was driving with another man on Liberty Heights Avenue when another car pulled alongside. The two drivers exchanged words and Price was shot, his son said. He died at the hospital. Aretired mason, Price lived in Ashburton with his longtime wife, children and grandchildren. His son said Price never missed his children’s and grandchildren’s events: high school sports, graduations, tournaments. “He had a lot of love,” his son said. Police have not announced an arrest in the shooting.

On Friday, police identified Price and four other recent homicide victims.

The other homicide victims include Andrew Omar Allen, 18, killed Thursday in the 3300 block of Cardenas Ave.; Fanny Machado, 28, found dead Wednesday in a vacant house in the 1300 block of N. Fulton Ave.; Jason Reuben Haynes, 41, killed Tuesday in the 4300 block of Park Heights Ave.; and Harry Reckline, 53, who checked into a hospital Monday with gunshot wounds and died Friday.

Police also said a 59-year-old man was shot in his leg and wounded shortly before 1 a.m. Friday on the 2500 block of East Monument St. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The killings this week follow a month in which 37 people were killed, making September the city’s deadliest month in more than a year. There have been 239 killings in the city this year.
