Loch Raven girls top Parkville

Loyola, Curley boys soccer win; St. Paul’s upsets Mount de Sales in girls volleyball

The Loch Raven girls soccer team scored four goals in the first half and never looked back as the host Raiders (6-6-1) coasted to a 4-1 win over Parkville on Wednesday.

Rebecca Lane scored two goals, Elyssa Nowowieski had a goal and two assists. Savannah Sherman had a goal and Celina Baranoski added an assist for the winners.

Goalie Jacinda Griffin had14 saves for the Knights.

The Raiders celebrated senior night and at halftime they honored fallen police officer Amy Caprio, a 2006 graduate and former player, by presenting her husband, Tim, and parents, Debbie and Gary, with framed number 24 Loch Raven soccer jerseys. Athird jersey will remain at the high school in her honor.

NO. 4 SPARROWS POINT1, CENTURY 0, 2OT: Jordyn Vanarsdale made nine saves for the host Knights (7-5-1). The Pointers improved to 10-0.

NO. 8 PERRY HALL 10, CARVER A&T 2: Phoebe Canoles scored a game-high six goals to lead the Gators (12-2) past the host Wildcats (4-5). Perry Hall’s only losses were to No. 4 Sparrows Point and No. 15 Bel Air.

Boys soccer

NO. 1 LOYOLABLAK­EFIELD 3, ST. PAUL’S 0: Chase Llewellyn, Matias de Jesus and Matthew Lala each scored and the host Dons (13-0, 11-0 Maryland Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n A Conference) shut out the Crusaders (3-10-1, 2-10-1). Lala assisted on the first goal and scored the third goal. Loyola travels to Archbishop Spalding at 4 p.m. Friday.

NO. 13 ARCHBISHOP CURLEY 2, NO. 3 MCDONOGH 1: Anthony Dragisics scored the game-winner with 15 minutes left in the game as the visiting Friars (9-7, 8-6 MIAA A Conference) upset the Eagles (7-2-1, 7-2-1). McDonogh trails No. 1 Loyola Blakefield and No. 8 Gilman in the A Conference standings.

SALESIANUM (DELA.) 4, NO. 4 C. MILTON WRIGHT 0: Zach Hetrick made seven saves, but the visiting Mustangs (10-2) fell to the Sallies (9-2). This was the final regularsea­son game for C.M. Wright.

NO. 8 GILMAN 1, ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 0: Michael Brittingha­m scored the game-winner in the second half on an assist from Avery Merlo to lift the host Greyhounds (12-4-1, 9-3-1 MIAA A Conference) over the Cavaliers (6-9, 3-9).

NO. 11 TOWSON 8, FRANKLIN 1: Bryce Vanick had two goals and two assists to lead the Generals (10-0-2) past the host Indians (4-5-1). The win advances Towson to Tuesday’s Baltimore County Championsh­ip game versus No. 5 Eastern Tech.

NO. 12 MOUNT SAINT JOSEPH 2, NO. 14 CALVERT HALL 0: Zach Whelan and freshman Riley Berge scored and the visiting Gaels (6-7-1, 6-7-1 MIAA A Conference) shut out the Cardinals (8-6, 7-6). Ashton Carey made six saves for Mount Saint Joseph.

Girls volleyball

ST. PAUL’S 3, NO. 3 MOUNTDE SALES 2: Jalen Dickerson had 12 kills and Abbey Snyder had 40 assists as the Gators (13-3, 11-3 IAAM A Conference) upset the Sailors (11-2, 11-2). St. Paul’s won, 24-26, 26-24, 26-24, 21-25, 15-9.

NO. 14 MARYVALE 3, MCDONOGH 0: Claire Neff had 13 kills and Sophie Savick had 11 assists as the host Lions (14-4, 10-4 IAAM A Conference) beat the Eagles (2-14, 1-13). Maryvale won, 25-10, 25-20, 25-14.

Boys golf

DULANEY WINS: The Lions claimed the Baltimore County Team Championsh­ip. Dulaney’s top finishers included: Chan Park (1st place), Luke Murnane (3rd place), Ryan Choi (5th place) and Nick Charlow (6th place).

Cross country

MANCHESTER VALLY WINS: Rubie Goffena tuned up for next week’s cross country county championsh­ip by winning a girls race Wednesday at Manchester Valley High School.

The Mavericks freshman crossed the finish line in 20 minutes, 45.7 seconds.

Westminste­r won the team title with 26 points, with Abby Manning coming in second and Emma Herman taking third.

Man Valley totaled 33 points, with Margaret Frazier finishing fourth.

On the boys side, the Mavs put together a 1-2-3-3-5 finish for 15 points and a win over the Owls (48).

Gabe Szybalski won in 20:37 and Mason Weston was second, followed by teammates Gabe Eichler and Bryce Schilling.
