Laurel Park offers streaming of carnival

Laurel Park’s annual Winter Carnival, featuring the $250,000 Barbara Fritchie (G3) and $250,000 General George (G3), will have enhanced coverage and exposure today. Laurel’s 10-race program will be streamed in English and Spanish at LaurelPark.com and Gulfstream­Park.com. The Spanish stream will be hosted by Alfredo Alfonzo, Juan Carlos Palma, Claudia Spadaro and Pedro Casella. Meanwhile, Laurel’s English stream and simulcast show will be hosted by Stanton Salter and Tim Tullock and will also feature trackside reports by Richard Migliore and Ashley Mailloux. Migliore, a multiple graded-stakes winning jockey and Eclipse Award and Breeders’ Cup winner, won 4,450 races and formerly worked at NYRA TV and XBTV. Mailloux is the paddock analyst at Fort Erie after graduating with a master’s degree with a concentrat­ion in statistics. First race post today at Laurel is 12:30 p.m. The 10-race program also includes the $100,000 Miracle Wood for 3-year-olds, $100,000 Wide Country for 3-year- old fillies, and the $100,000 John B. Campbell for 4-year-olds and up. William Vanzela recorded nine for the Blast, who host the Milwaukee Wave on Friday at 7:35 p.m. at SECU Arena.

MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Randolph-Macon sophomore Buzz Anthony (Archbishop Spalding) is one of 50 players on the current Bevo Francis Award Watch List.

WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Coppin State announced sophomore Nadia Davidson, who played for the Eagles as a freshman, died in an automobile accident Thursday night. ... Kionna Jeter scored a game-high 22 points to lead host Towson (114-9, 8-4 Colonial Athletic Associatio­n) to an 82-61 victory over UNC Wilmington (15-8, 8-4). Tied at 16 in the first quarter, the Tigers went on a 15-8 run in the second quarter to pull away. The loss ended a four-game winning streak for the Seahawks.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Morgan Alisauckas had five hits as Mount St. Mary’s opened the season by splitting a pair of games at the Georgia Southern Eagle Round Robin. The Mount dropped the season opener to UMKC, 7-1, before rebounding for a 15-3 win over Morehead State. ... Dakohta Frahley had five hits to help Salisbury open with a sweep of Rochester, 8-6 and 11-3.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: Salisbury (2-0) came back late to defeat Immaculata, 5-2.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: The Frederick Keys will hold national anthem auditions March 6 from 4-8 p.m. Auditions are slated to take place at the FSK Mall in Center Court.
