Mary E. Daly, a former real estate specialist with the Baltimore District of the Army Corps of Engineers, died June 19 of complicati­ons of dementia at her home in Malden, Massachuse­tts. The former Northeast Baltimore resident was 67.

Mary Ellen Daly, the daughter of John Daly and his wife, Mary Daly, was born and raised in Lynn, Massachuse­tts, and was a local parochial school graduate. She earned both her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in the classics from Boston College.

She also had done graduate work for a Ph.D. at the Johns Hopkins University, where she taught New Testament Greek and intermedia­te Latin.

For about two decades until leaving the order, Ms. Daly had been a member of the Sisters of St. Francis.

Ms. Daly had taught Latin and theology at the Catholic High School of Baltimore from 1981 to 1991.

Until retiring in 2017, she had worked for nearly 25 years as a real estate specialist for the Baltimore District of the Army Corps of Engineers. In 2006, she was the recipient of the Corps’ Outstandin­g Civilian Service Award.

Ms. Daly was a Boston sports fan who enjoyed following politics and reading. She also had competed in two marathons, family members said.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at St. Stephen Convent, 8020 Bradshaw Road, Kingsville.

Ms. Daly is survived by three brothers, James Daly, of Baltimore, John Daly, of Medfield, Massachuse­tts, and Joseph Daly, of Malden; two sisters, Valerie Daly, of Malden, and Patricia Daly, of Warwick, Rhode Island; and a nephew.
