Donnelly, Griffin help Brave to WPLL title

Kayla Treanor scores seven goals in 13-12 victory

South River graduates Kelsea Donnelly and Brooke Griffin helped the Brave celebrate their first Women’s Profession­al Lacrosse League title Sunday after beating the previously undefeated Fight, 13-12, at US Lacrosse Headquarte­rs in Sparks. The win served as redemption for the Brave, who fell to the Command — then the New England Command — last summer. Dempsey Arsenault scored four goals for the Brave and Kayla Treanor led the Fight with seven goals.

NFL: Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams still isn’t at training camp, though the team denied a CBS Sports report that he no longer trusts president Bruce Allen or the medical team and informed the Redskins he didn’t intend to play for them again. Vice president of communicat­ions Tony Wyllie called the report “100 percent false.” Williams was reportedly upset about how the team has handled his health, including the removal of a growth on his head earlier this year. … Vincent Testaverde, the son of former Ravens quarterbac­k Vinny Testaverde, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN. Vincent Testaverde threw for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns at Albany in the FBS last season after stops at Texas Tech and Miami.

NBA: The Golden State Warriors resigned guard Damion Lee (Calvert Hall) to a two-way contract, according to multiple media reports. Lee, a 26-year-old Baltimore native and brother-in-law of Warriors star Steph Curry, averaged 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 32 games with Golden State last season and averaged 20.3 points with the G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors.

Arena Football League: The Washington Valor lost to the Philadelph­ia Soul, 69-33, in Game 1 of a semifinal series at Capital One Arena. The winner of the two-game series will be decided by aggregate score and will advance to ArenaBowl 32.
