Two men dead and three others shot Monday across Baltimore

Tyree Colion spray-painted “no shoot zone #188” in purple as the crime scene behind him bustled.

The Baltimore rapper and anti-violence activist was using the city’s latest homicide in the O’Donnell Heights neighborhood to tell people to put the guns down.

As Colion scrawled on the sidewalk Monday, family and friends gathered nearby, crying behind the crime-scene tape in the 6200 block of Shipview Way.

Southeast District officers were called to the neighborhood at 10:46 a.m. for a shooting. When police arrived, they found a man who had suffered several gunshot wounds. Police said the man died at the scene.

Just after 1 p.m., the body was finally removed from the crime scene. And shortly after that, family members got into a fight with one another about how they were notified about the shooting.

It took four police officers to break it up as other family members yelled, “He wouldn’t have wanted this! Keep the peace!”

Police have not identified the man and family declined to identify him to a Baltimore Sun reporter.

The O’Donnell Heights homicide is one of four fatal shootings since Sunday, when a 17-year-old boy was killed, a 37-year-old man died of his injuries and three others were injured in separate shootings.

Just past midnight Monday, Western district officers were called to the 1500 block of Traction St. for a shooting.

When police arrived in the Penn North neighborhood they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said the man was taken to Shock Trauma where he died shortly after arriving.

About 50 minutes later, police were called to the 900 block of E. 41st St. for a shooting.

When officers arrived in the Pen Lucy neighborhood, they found a 36-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said the man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Not long after, at1:37 a.m., Eastern district officers were called to the 700 block of North Rose St. for a shooting.

When officers arrived, police said, they found a 28-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was transported from the Milton-Montford neighborhood to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

A 23-year-old man checked into an area hospital with gunshot injuries that officials believe were also connected to the MiltonMontford shooting.
