Ovechkin’s OT goal ends 4-point night

Alex Ovechkin scored his second goal of the game on an overtime power play to complete a four-point night, and the Capitals beat the Maple Leafs 4-3 on Tuesday night.

John Carlson also scored twice, Nicklas Backstrom added three assists and Braden Holtby made 27 saves.

The Leafs’ Auston Matthews had two goals and an assist.

Other games: David Krejci returned with a goal and an assist after missing five games with an injury, David Pastrnak scored his league-leading 12th goal and the Bruins beat the Sharks 5-1. The Bruins won their fourth straight and improved to 6-0-2 in their last eight. ... Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists and the Penguins steamrolle­d the Flyers 7-1.
