Hawks lose Young to sprained ankle

-

Hawks guard Trae Young left Tuesday night’s 112-97 loss to the Heat early in the second quarter with a sprained right ankle.

Young was hurt on a drive. He went into the air and landed on the foot of the Heat’s Justise Winslow, twisting his ankle awkwardly. Young was eventually helped to his feet, unable to put any weight on that leg, and went to the locker room for further evaluation.

Young was the Eastern Conference player of the week for the opening week. He entered the game averaging 34 points and scored five points in 11 minutes.

Jimmy Butler scored 21 in his Heat debut and rookie Tyler Herro hit 29. Goran Dragic scored 21, while Bam Adebayo had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

John Collins scored 30 for the Hawks, including a career-best five 3-pointers, and Jabari Parker finished with 12.
