Arrest in Glen Burnie home invasion reveals details of melee inside

- By Rick Hutzell

Police arrested a Baltimore County man in a home invasion in Glen Burnie Thursday, hours after he fled the home of a couple who opened fire with a revolver and a shotgun load of buckshot.

Tyler David Perdue, 20, of Lansdowne, told Anne Arundel County police after he was taken into custody Thursday night that he and Patrick Doerr, 38, arrived at the house on Nabbs Creek Road armed with a pellet gun and plans to rob the residents.

Instead, they found a man and woman who fought back with a revolver, a pipe and 12 gauge shotgun, police said in charging documents.

Police charged Perdue with home invasion, robbery, burglary, assault, theft and other offenses. Police have not charged Doerr, who is being treated for shotgun wounds to his legs.

Perdue told police he and Doerr broke into Thomas Fisher’s home at about 7:30 a.m., police said. Fisher said he was outside tending his chickens when he heard his French bulldog barking.

Inside, Fisher’s girlfriend said the two men confronted her armed with a silver handgun. She grabbed her own handgun and fired one round before the men overpowered her and took the weapon. She suffered facial injuries that later required stitches.

Thomas said he went inside and found the men, one of them identified as Perdue, assaulting his girlfriend. He ran outside to grab a pipe as a weapon then returned to find that his girlfriend had rearmed herself with the shotgun.

The men ran from the home still holding the couple’s handgun, and Fisher said he grabbed the weapon from his girlfriend and fired three rounds. He wounded one of the men in the leg.

Police said Doerr fell to the ground, while Perdue ran into a wooded area next to Fisher’s house. Doerr identified Perdue as the second man in an interview with police, according to charging documents.

Police said Thursday morning that detectives believe the men knew Fisher and Wagner.

Fisher said he had never seen them before.

Perdue was ordered held without bail in a hearing Friday. He does not have an attorney listed for him in online court records.

Both Perdue and Doerr are currently facing separate indictments on burglary charges in Baltimore County. Perdue was indicted for an incident in September, while Doerr was indicted on an incident that occurred in July, according to court documents.
