Shot fired in struggle over police officer’s gun

A person grabbed a police officer’s gun and fired one round during a struggle early Monday, Baltimore Police said. Officers received a call for disorderly conduct in the 4400 block of 400 La Plata Ave. in the North Baltimore neighborho­od of Medfield. At the scene, an officer got into a struggle with a person who grabbed an officer’s service weapon and one round was discharged. The suspect was then Tased and taken into custody, police said. A police spokeswoma­n did not provide informatio­n about the suspect’s name, condition or possible charges Monday afternoon.

McDonald’s, Baltimore County Police say. Anton Hosea Elsezy Jr., who turned 18 in February, has been charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in a felony for the killing of 18year-old Tyron Deandre Davis. Police issued a warrant for Elsezy’s arrest on Dec. 6. Elsezy, an Essex resident, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in North Carolina on May 5, police said. Police responded to the 200 block of Back River Neck Road in Essex just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 for a report of shots fired. They found Davis, of the 900 block of Lowe Road in Middle River, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, officials said. He died from his injuries the next day. Davis and another man had approached a group of men standing outside the McDonald’s, police said. Davis briefly spoke with them before walking away. Police said Elsezy, who was among the group, pulled a gun and shot Davis as he left. Elsezy is awaiting extraditio­n from a North Carolina facility where he’s being held, a police spokesman said.
