LaBeouf charged in June incident

Shia LaBeouf has been charged with misdemeano­r battery and petty theft.

Prosecutor­s allege that the actor, 34, fought with a man named Tyler Murphy and took his hat, according to a criminal complaint obtained on Thursday from the Los Angeles city attorney.

The charges were filed on Sept. 24 for the June 12 incident.

A representa­tive for LaBeouf did not immediatel­y respond to an email seeking comment.

LaBeouf has had several run-ins with the law during his career, including a 2017 New York arrest for public drunkennes­s and disorderly conduct that was captured on a livestream video.

He was sent to courtmanda­ted rehabilita­tion for the incident.

Rick Moranis was sucker punched by an unknown assailant while walking Thursday on a sidewalk near New York’s Central Park, a law enforcemen­t official said.

Surveillan­ce video shows a man wearing a black “I (heart) NY” sweatshirt and a backpack hitting the “Ghostbuste­rs” star, 67, and knocking him to the ground around

7:24 a.m. Thursday.

The attack happened just a few blocks from the Central Park West apartment building where Moranis’ character lived in the movie.

Moranis took himself to the hospital and later went to a police station to report the incident, according to the official.

Moranis’ representa­tive Troy Bailey said in a statement Friday: “Rick Moranis was assaulted on the Upper West Side yesterday. He is fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and

well wishes.”

‘The Witches’ making debut on HBO Max: The Robert Zemeckis adaptation of “Roald Dahl’s The Witches” has found a new home on HBO Max this month, just in time for Halloween.

Warner Bros. said Friday that “The Witches” will debut on the subscripti­on streaming service

Oct. 22.

The dark fantasy starring Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci and Kristin Chenoweth was originally intended as a theatrical release, but like many others was unset due to the effects of COVID-19 on movie theaters.

Dahl’s 1983 novel about an orphaned boy who discovers a coven of witches that hate children was previously adapted for the big screen in 1990 by director Nicolas Roeg.

This new version has actor Jahzir Bruno playing the boy who must try to stop the witches from

turning the world’s children into mice. Chris Rock provides his adult narration.

Minaj gives birth: Nicki Minaj has welcomed her first child. The “Super Bass” rapper gave birth Wednesday in Los Angeles.

It’s the first child for the artist, 37, and her husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty.

Minaj, whose full name is Onika Tanya MarajPetty, announced her pregnancy on social media in July with a series of bikiniclad photos taken by photograph­er David LaChapelle.
