Some big losses come with victory over Eagles
Averett, Ingram II, Phillips suffer injuries in road win
Three Ravens suffered injuries during Sunday’s road win over the Philadelphia Eagles, but they are not believed to be serious.
Cornerback Anthony Averett was ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury in the second quarter. Averett headed to the locker room early in the second quarter and did not return.
Running back Mark Ingram II was also ruled out after injuring his left ankle in the first quarter. He was seen getting his ankle taped and returned in the second quarter to carry the ball for a 5-yard gain before exiting again. Fellow backs Gus Edwards (14 carries for 26 yards) and J.K. Dobbins (nine carries for 28 yards) shouldered the workload in the backfield while Ingram (five carries for 20 yards) remained on the sideline.
Rookie right guard Tyre Phillips left the game in the fourth quarter with a hand injury. It was the second injury Phillips has suffered this season after he missed Week 5 with a shoulder injury. Patrick Mekari entered the game for Phillips.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn’t have an update on the severity of the players’ injuries after the game but said that they didn’t look to be serious.
“I have not talked to the trainer about those guys since during the game,” Harbaugh said, “so I don’t think those are any long-term injuries but we’ll find out after.”
The Ravens will enter their bye week and then host a Week 8 matchup with the AFC-North leading Pittsburgh Steelers (5-0).
Eagles rookie safety K’Von Wallace was ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury
making a tackle on a punt return in the first quarter. Cornerback Jalen Mills also headed to the team’s locker room in the third quarter but returned, while running back Miles Sanders left with a knee injury. Tight end Zach Ertz exited in the fourth quarter with a left ankle injury.
Wolfe misses game
Ravens defensive end Derek Wolfe was inactive for Sunday’s 30-28 road win against
the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wolfe was doubtful to play with a neck injury and concussion that kept him out of practice Thursday and Friday.
Defensive back-linebacker Anthony Levine Sr., who did not practice this week because of a lingering abdomen injury, was also inactive. Levine’s streak of 117 consecutive games played, which dates to the 2013 season, came to an end. The Ravens used safety Jordan Richards in Levine’s spot as the punt protector.
Quarterback Trace McSorley, wide receiver Chris Moore (finger/thigh) and offensive linemen Trystan Colon-Castillo and Ben Bredeson were also inactive.
Defensive tackle Brandon Williams, who on Saturday was placed on the reserve/ COVID-19 list, is not on the active roster and did not play.
Safety Marcus Gilchrist, whom the Ravens designated to replace Williams on the active roster, was active. So was undrafted rookie inside linebacker Kristian Welch, who on Saturday was also elevated to the active roster. The Iowa product made his NFL debut and recorded a tackle.
Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, who was listed as questionable with a concussion, was active.
Eagles tight end Hakeem Butler, a Baltimore native, was active for the first time since joining the team last month.
