Stars join ‘Ratatouille’ musical
TikTok’s crowdsourced “Ratatouille” musical has cooked up some serious talent for its one-nightonly benefit concert, including roles for Tituss Burgess, Adam Lambert, André De Shields and Ashley Park.
“Ratatouille: The
TikTok Musical” — fondly nicknamed the “Ratatousical” — will begin streaming on Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern for 72 hours. Tickets are on sale exclusively on TodayTix.com and are $5. Proceeds will benefit The Actors Fund, which aids entertainment industry workers.
It is the product of several minds — many musical theater fans and out-of-work performers — who collaborated on original songs, lyrics and ideas to turn an animated, nonmusical film into a two-act Broadway-style show.
The story for both film and musical centers on Remy, an ambitious rat who dreams of becoming a Parisian chef.
Burgess will play
Remy; Lambert plays his older brother, Emile; and Wayne Brady plays his father. Tony Award winner De Shields plays food critic Anton Ego, Kevin Chamberlin plays the great chef Gusteau, and Andrew Barth Feldman plays Gusteau’s
“nephew” Linguini.
Other cast members will be Tony winner Priscilla Lopez, Tony nominee Ashley Park, Owen Tabaka and three-time Tony nominee Mary Testa. The show will be performed with the 20-piece Broadway Sinfonietta orchestra.
‘Deadliest Catch’s’ McGlashan dies: Longtime “Deadliest Catch” cast member Nick McGlashan, 33, has reportedly died.
The TV star died Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee, TMZreported, citing confirmations from both a medical examiner and from McGlashan’s family.
Authorities have not released a cause of death for McGlashan.
A veteran fisherman and crabber, McGlashan joined Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” in 2013. The series follows the high-leverage efforts of fishermen who venture out to sea and risk their lives to haul in crabs.
Discovery describes McGlashan in an online biography as a deck boss known for his “witty quips, working through the pain and not stopping the job until its done.”
McGlashan battled drug and alcohol addiction during his life. His struggles led to him being removed from his boat during the 13th season of “Deadliest Catch.” He attended rehab at the time.
Branch says she suffered a miscarriage: Singer Michelle Branch revealed Saturday that she suffered a miscarriage earlier this month.
“Just when we were rounding third and heading home (A baseball metaphor?! I know.) 2020 was like, ‘nah, I ain’t done yet.’ December decided to really finish us off with a bang! No, literally. A bomb went off in downtown Nashville yesterday. And to further twist a dagger in my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage,” the singer, 37, who moved to Nashville in 2016, wrote on Instagram.
The message was posted along with photos from Christmas that included son Rhys James, whom she and husband Patrick Carney, the drummer for the Black Keys, welcomed in August 2018. The two were engaged in 2017 and wed in April 2019.
Branch also shares daughter Owen, 15, with ex Teddy Landau.
