Grammy Awards shifting to March

-

The 2021 Grammy Awards will no longer take place this month in Los Angeles and will broadcast in March due to a recent surge in coronavirus cases and deaths.

The Recording Academy said Tuesday that the annual show would shift from its original Jan. 31 broadcast to a later date in March.

The Grammys are scheduled to be held in

Los Angeles at the Staples Center. Los Angeles County, the epicenter of the crisis in California, has surpassed 10,000 COVID19 deaths and has had 40% of the deaths in California.

“The Daily Show” host and comedian Trevor Noah is set to host the 2021 Grammys, where Beyoncé is leading contender with nine nominations. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch, Jhené Aiko, Post Malone, Renée Zellweger, Billie Eilish and her producer-brother Finneas also scored nominations.

Wondery launches podcast on Hilton: Paris Hilton’s story is getting the podcast treatment, with Wondery’s original podcast “Even the Rich” launching its newest season focused on the heiress, entrepreneur and OG influencer.

Over four episodes, co-hosts Brooke Siffrinn and Aricia Skidmore-Williams take a deep dive into Hilton’s empire and “how this hotel heiress turned a provocative moment into superstardom and how Paris built her persona brick by brick.” The first episode, which launched Tuesday, chronicles Hilton’s early days in the spotlight before “The Simple Life.”

Explaining why the podcast — which has chronicled the Versace family, the Kennedys, the Murdochs, and Beyoncé and Jay-Z — focused on Hilton, Skidmore-Williams said, “There’s so much more to her than what the 2000s media would have us believe — she’s been through a lot. Paris is quite the savvy businesswoman. She used her knowledge and experience to curate the brand she wanted for herself.”

Though Hilton is not involved in telling her story, the show’s hosts feel confident that the media maven will approve of their take.

Buckingham sells catalog: Not 24 hours after Hipgnosis Songs announced that it had acquired Jimmy Iovine’s production catalog, it announced Tuesday that it has acquired the music publishing rights of Lindsey Buckingham, best known for his work with Fleetwood Mac.

Along with the 25% share it acquired in September, Hipgnosis now owns 100% of Buckingham’s music publishing rights, including his publishing and writer’s share, of his entire catalog, comprising 161 songs, as well as a 50% share of any unreleased compositions, according to the announcement.

Along with his solo work and an album with longtime partner Stevie Nicks, Buckingham’s catalog includes credits on Fleetwood Mac’s albums “Rumours,” “Tusk” and “Tango in the Night.”
