Springstee­n joins ‘America’ special

Rocker Bruce Springstee­n, along with crooner John Legend and alternativ­e band the Foo Fighters, were announced Friday as additional performers at the post-inaugurati­on prime-time TV special, “Celebratin­g America.”

They’ll join previously announced musicians — Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Ant Clemons — in performing at iconic locations across the nation.

The Presidenti­al Inaugural Committee also announced Friday that

Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington will introduce segments on the special, including the musical acts and takes of young people making a difference in their communitie­s.

“Celebratin­g America” will be hosted by Tom Hanks and air on several networks and streaming platforms Wednesday.

Character actor Richman dies: Peter Mark Richman, 93, a character actor who appeared in hundreds of television episodes and had recurring roles on “Three’s Company” and “Beverly Hills 90210,” has died.

Richman died Thursday at his home in Los Angeles of natural causes, publicist Harlan Boll announced.

His movies included “The Black Orchid” with Sophia Loren, “The Strange One,” “The Naked Gun 2 ½: The Smell of Fear” and “Friday the 13th, Part 8.” He appeared in more than 500 episodes of various shows, from “Bonanza” and “The Fugitive” to “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

He was Suzanne Somers’ father, the Rev. Luther Snow, on “Three’s Company” and appeared as Lawrence Carson in “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

In 1990, he received the Silver Medallion from the

Motion Picture & Television Fund for outstandin­g humanitari­an achievemen­t.

Bong to head Venice

Film Festival jury: “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho has been selected as jury president of the 78th Venice Internatio­nal Film Festival, organizers said Friday. The Oscar-winner will preside over seven jurors to hand out the top awards, including the prestigiou­s Golden Lion. He’ll be the first South Korean to hold the post.

In a statement, the director said he is, “honored to be woven into its beautiful cinematic tradition. As president of the jury — and more importantl­y as a perpetual cinephile — I’m ready to admire and applaud all the great films selected by the festival. I’m filled with genuine hope and excitement.”

The festival is set to run from Sept. 1-11.

Documentar­y on Winfrey’s life in works:

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey will have a biographic­al documentar­y released on Apple TV+.

The streaming platform announced Thursday a two-part documentar­y focusing on her life. The project will chronicle 25 years of American history through the lens of Winfrey “who rose from humble roots to become a billionair­e, philanthro­pist, actress, media executive, and agent of social change.”
