Wednesday’s game washed out; doubleheader Thursday
A stop-and-start week for the Orioles and Mariners at Camden Yards continued Wednesday with a second postponement in three nights, with the game to be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader Thursday beginning at 12:35 p.m.
The teams were scheduled to play a four-game series Monday through Thursday, but Monday’s game was postponed after a 1 hour, 40 minute delay. The Orioles and Mariners split Tuesday’s doubleheader, with Seattle requiring extra innings to win the first game, 4-3, before Orioles second baseman Ramón Urías hit a walk-off single in the seventh inning for a 7-6 victory in the second game.
Orioles right-hander Matt Harvey (0-1, 5.59 ERA) will start Game 1 on Thursday and left-hander Bruce Zimmermann (1-0, 4.50 ERA) will start Game 2. Lefthander Marco Gonzales (0-1, 10.45 ERA) and right-hander Justin Dunn (0-0, 5.79 ERA) are lined up for Seattle, respectively.
Thursday’s doubleheader will also feature seven-inning games, with the second set to start approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1.
Tickets for Thursday’s regularly-scheduled matinee will be honored for the doubleheader. Those with tickets for Wednesday’s game can exchange them for a later date in 2021, including Thursday.
The Orioles will be able to add a 27th
man to their roster for the doubleheader. That player was right-hander Travis Lakins Sr. on Tuesday. He was returned to the secondary camp at Bowie after the game, but was recalled Wednesday as Rule 5 pitcher Mac Sceroler was placed on the 10-day injured list with shoulder tendinitis.
