Leadership changes announced for TEKsystems and parent Allegis Group

Hanover-based TEKsystems and parent company Allegis Group, which grew out of a technology firm co-founded by Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, have appointed new leaders.

Mark Collins will become president on Jan. 1 of TEKsystems, a technology service and staffing business serving more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies.

Collins will succeed Jay Alvather, who will become CEO of Allegis, an international talent management firm.

Alvather, who has worked in several executive roles across the enterprise for 27 years, oversaw TEKsystems growth to $7 billion in annual revenue as an IT talent firm and technology services provider. TEKsystems has 80,000 employees and 6,000 customers across North America, Europe and Asia.

“I’ve seen the company expand its service capabilities, drive significant growth and opportunity both domestically and internationally, while investing in our employees,” Alvather said in an announcement Wednesday.

Collins started at TEKsystems in 1995 and has since led offices, regions, national and strategic sales, and global services, including most recently supporting TEKsystems’ global operations.

TEKsystems grew out of Aerotek, a technology employment and customer service firm started in 1983 by Bisciotti and his cousin Jim Davis to serve the aerospace engineering industry. The company then started a data services division.

With the growth of the internet in the 1990s, that division became TEKsystems. Allegis was created as the parent, and Aerotek and other divisions remained separate companies.
