Short agenda set for Benton school board

- By Dana Guthrie

The Benton School Board will hold it’s first meeting of 2021 with a short agenda Monday.

The board will consider a resolution and which, if approved, will allow the board to enter into a contract with SS Digital Marketing from Jan. 11 to June 30 to provide digital media advertising for staff recruitment and school choice. The estimated amount of the contract is $4,500.

SS Digital Marketing is owned by Shannon Saunders, the wife of BSD Assistant Superintendent Dr. Eric Saunders. A contract disclosure will also be submitted to the board which will need to be approved in order for the resolution to be approved.

The disclosure states that the justification for the approval is that SS Digital Marketing can provide additional services at a lower cost than other similar content providers.

A Panther Pride Award will be presented to Sydney Tanner for being chosen as the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Award. The DAR award is faculty selected based on the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

“Sydney Tanner represents each of these qualities,” the district said about Tanner receiving the award. “She is truthful, loyal and punctual. Sydney

serves her community and school with the greatest of cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others. She displays strength in her personality and self-control.”

Other items on the agenda include:

• Student transfer requests

• Personnel recommendations.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Professional Building, located on the Benton High School campus. The meeting will be streamed live on Facebook. For those attending the meeting, masks are encouraged and social distancing measures will be in place.
