Take a look at old Egypt and maybe learn something

When a pharaoh ruled Egypt, life was good for those who staffed and served him — until he died. A pharaoh was believed to be the incarnation of the Egyptian deity Horus before his death. After he died, he became Osiris, the god of the afterlife. Each new pharaoh was considered to be a new incarnation of Horus.

When an old pharaoh died, the next one would not keep any of the people who served and helped the old one rule. The civil service retirement plan back then was that when the pharaoh they served died, the new pharaoh had all of them killed and buried with the old one.

The reason given was that the old pharaoh’s staff and servants needed to be entombed with him to serve him in the afterlife. The real reason was the new pharaoh didn’t want anyone around saying things like “but the other pharaoh always did it this way.”

Today in the United States, when a ruler — we call them presidents — leaves office, we give the people who worked for him a pension. In some cases they become paid commentators on cable network news channels so they can tell everyone why the new guy is doing it wrong.

Trump-hating Democrats want to go back to the Egyptian ways of dealing with those who served the previous ruler. Some former Barack Obama and Pete Buttigieg staffers have launched something called “The Trump Accountability Project.”

According to the website, anyone associated with the Trump administration, including those who elected him, staffed his government, funded him, endorsed him, worked in law firms for him, and who supported him in general, should be “held accountable.”

The idea of punishing people who have supported Trump also surfaced among media types including Jake Tapper of

CNN and Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post.

They have called for at least social recriminations such as keeping the “guilty” from being able to support themselves and their families through paid employment.

Trump haters say those who worked for Trump should “never serve in office, join a corporate board, find a faculty position or be accepted into ‘polite society.’”

Since those on the left want to make this a socialist nation with themselves as the permanent ruling class, perhaps they will decide to follow the Russian communist example.

When the Marxists took over, they held show trials for people who had worked for Czar Nicholas II. Those trials always ended in the execution of political enemies.

One of the left’s biggest gripes — there is a long list — is the Trump opposition to abortion.

Planned Parenthood, once the largest taxpayer-paid provider of abortion, was largely defunded under Trump.

The left has a lot of moral outrage over this issue. Could it be that Planned Parenthood being the largest financial supporter of Democrat candidates has anything to do with their outrage?

The left cries out against racism, but ignores the racial overtones of Planned Parenthood.

About 80 percent of Planned Parenthood’s surgical abortion clinics are located within walking distance of black neighborhoods. About a third all babies aborted are black. Black women make up only about 7 percent of this country’s population.

Other reasons given to the purges and punishment of those who supported — or still support — Trump are the administration’s purported assault on democracy, separation of children from their families, encouragement of racism, and “the country’s failed response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

While Democrats have still not accepted Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016, his election was democracy in action — not an assault.

Separation of children from their parents at this nation’s southern border was started by Obama, but that does not fit the left’s narrative.

Under Trump, black unemployment was the lowest in this nation’s history. If this is his way to “encouraging racism,” he did a pretty poor job of it.

As for a failed response to COVID-19, no government has ever stopped the common cold virus — COVID-19 is a mutated version of it — but Trump haters never let facts get in the way of their feelings.

Those on the left should stop and think about going back to the old Egyptian ways of handling those who supported the previous administration. The heavy-handed tactics they are proposing will only offend voters and in four year’s this could cause them to be supporters of a previous administration.
