Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Saline County Library will not be hosting the VITA program inhouse this year.

VITA will still be hosting tax assistance services in Benton, but taxes will be done on a drop-off/ pick-up basis at 714 Edison Ave. Those interested can make an appointmen­t by calling 501-3266203 beginning now.

The Volunteer Income

Tax Assistance Program is a free tax preparatio­n and electronic filing by certified, trained volunteers. This is a program for incomequal­ified individual­s and families. Central Arkansas Developmen­t Council’s VITA Tax Preparatio­n Program ensures that individual­s and families receive all tax benefits for which they are eligible. The EITC is a refundable tax credit for low and moderate working taxpayers.

Residents can pick up printed state and federal tax booklets at both the Benton and Bryant library branches. Residents can pick these up on a self-serve basis from the curbside table at either branch, no appointmen­t or calls necessary.

Curbside services are available 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Limited computer services are also available by appointmen­t only if you need to use a computer or print tax informatio­n. Call 501-778-4766 for computer appointmen­ts in Benton and 501-847-2166 for computer appointmen­ts in Bryant.
