Benton SB to honor students
The Benton School Board is set to honor a number of students during its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday evening.
Members of the Benton Junior High Quiz Bowl team will be given Panther Pride Awards after finishing third in the 6A competition. Four students were named to the 6A state all-tournament team. Those students include Hudson Chandler, Tanner Holden, Isaac Legate and Owen Schwartz. The team is coached by Julie Miller.
Two Benton High School students have been named as National Merit Finalists will also receive Panther Pride Awards. Those students are Hank Herzfeld and Kolby Payne. The students were named as two of the 16,000 semifinalists in September and have met all the requirements to advance to the finalist standing in the competition and have received a Certificate of Merit. All Merit Scholarship Winners will be chosen from the groups of finalists on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
Panther Pride awards will also be presented to a number of students who have been selected to the Allstate Choir. Students were judged on prepared literature, as well as, the literacy component in sight reading. The students are led by choir director Angela White. Those being named to All-state included:

Other items on the agenda include:
• An amendment to the ALE contract for 2020-2021. • Arch Ford contract for 2021-2022.
• Approval for an update to district lighting.
• Adoption of policy revisions
• Personnel recommandations
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Professional Development Building located on the Benton High School Campus. Social distancing measures will be in place and masks are encouraged. The meeting will also be streamed live on the district’s Facebook page. The public is invited to attend or participate online.
