Benton sets committee meetings
The Benton City Council Personnel, Health and Safety Committee and the Finance Committee will meet Monday in the city council chambers.
The Personnel Health and Safety Committee will meet at 5 p.m. with only one item on the agenda. The committee will discuss new job descriptions and salaries for recreation programmers in the Benton Parks and Recreation Department.
The city is looking to hire someone to plan, organize, conduct and coordinate a wide variety of recreational and community service programs at city parks.
The proposed salary being considered is $35,568 to $50,000 per year.
The Finance Committee will meet immediately after the conclusion of the first meeting.
Items on the agenda include:
• A request from the Benton Police Department to waive competitive bidding and emergency clause.
• A request from the Benton Fire Department for approval on a Rescue Fund purchase.
• A discussion of fire pension increase.
• IT budget amendment.
• A discussion on city bank accounts.
• January and February financials.
• An update on the new financial software,
• An audit update.
Both meetings will be held in the city council chambers at the Benton Municipal Complex located at 114 S. East Street. The meetings are open to the public and attendance is encourage. Social distancing and masks are required to participate in the meeting in person or the meetings may be viewed live on the city’s Facebook page.
