Benton School Board regular meeting set for Monday

The Benton School Board is scheduled to gather for a regular meeting Monday. This meeting comes after the board had a special meeting Friday.

During Friday’s meeting, the board went into an executive session regarding personnel for more than an hour. After returning to the open meeting, no action was taken.

The board has a full agenda for the meeting Monday, which is the first regular school board meeting since the terminatio­n of former superinten­dent, Dr. Mike Skelton, on Oct. 25 at a special meeting. A reason for his terminatio­n still has not been stated.

The meeting is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Profession­al Developmen­t Center.

The board will vote to reorganize itself with election of President/ Disburseme­nt officer, election of Vice President/ Alternate Disburseme­nt Officer and election of secretary/legislativ­e liaison.

The board will also recognize various students with Panther Pride awards including honoring chess tournament winners, National Merit Semifinali­sts Emma Dudley and Joseph Morris, Chad Pitts and Jasmine Johnson who made All Region Choir for Benton Junior High School and Josh Johnson who made All-region Choir for Benton High School.

Other items on the agenda include:

• Approval of 21/22 Educators Legal Liability Police and Out of State General Liability Policy.

• Approval of Interim Superinten­dent as Ex Officio Financial Secretary

• Approval of Kim Anderson, interim superinten­dent, as Co-op Representa­tive.

• Payment structure for second lien bond

• salary schedule

• Approval of IT renovation project.

All meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged.
