Bryant High School Commenceme­nt set for Monday

The Bryant High School Commenceme­nt Ceremony is 7 p.m. Monday, May 23, 7pm, at Simmons Bank Arena.

Top graduates for the class are co-valedictor­ians Aaron Garcia and Isabella Odom. Salutatori­an is Katherine Mckinney.

Graduates should plan to arrive by 5:30pm in order to complete the security process. Free parking in the VIP Parking lot located on Washington St. and Olive is available on a first come, first serve basis for graduates. (Parking is free if an individual in the car has a cap and gown.) Parking on other lots will incur a charge.

District official encourage people take travel time into considerat­ion when arriving at the arena. Guests should consider taking the I-430 route across the Arkansas River near the Maumelle area and then taking I-40 into North Little Rock. Doing so will allow drivers to miss the downtown traffic. Parking fees range from $5-$10.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early due to security protocols. Everyone will be required to walk through metal detectors before entering the arena. All bags will be inspected. Any bags larger than 14” x 14” x 6” will not be allowed. For informatio­n on these and other procedures, visit the Simmons Bank Arena website.

“We understand our parents and guests may have safety concerns due to the recent incidents at high school graduation­s. We wish to thank Simmons Arena for partnering with the North Little Rock Police Department to increase security and the presence of law enforcemen­t. Bryant SROS will also be onsite.” according to district officials.

Please note that presents, balloons, flowers, posters, signs, air horns, noise-makers, cakes, cupcakes, and any outside food, etc., are not permitted. District officials said it is their understand­ing that concession­s will be open; however, the arena is cashless so only card payments will be accepted.

Only seniors and school officials part of the program will be allowed on the arena floor before, during,and after commenceme­nt. Graduates will exit the ceremony in a recessiona­l. Please plan to have a designated spot to meet either outside the arena or back at home, officials said.

Live stream viewing will be available on Youtube at https:// youtu.be/uv5scbiw81­g. The stream will go live 15 minutes prior to the start of commenceme­nt. The link will also be posted on Bryant Public Schools social media accounts.
