DESPITE OLD AGE AND KIDNEY DISEASE, SENIOR DOG IS QUEEN OF HAPPINESS

-

Princess Potato might not sound like everyone’s dream dog. After all, she’s older, has arthritis and kidney disease, and wears a diaper. But when Cheyenne and Christian Lamprecht saw Princess Potato’s larger-than-life grin on TV one night, they just had to meet her. They drove to the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Atlanta the next morning and asked to meet the princess, a dog who no one else had shown much interest in adopting.

Well, to Cheyenne and Christian, she was perfect. Her tail never stopped wagging and she had a huge smile on her face. They adopted her on the spot and took her home. “She’s living the good life now,” Cheyenne says. “She has so many dog beds, blankets and toys to choose from.”

Cheyenne says Princess has opened her eyes to the joy of caring for a pet with special needs. In fact, from now on, they plan on only adopting dogs who need extra care, like Princess Potato. “I’m definitely ready to smother another dog like her with love and affection,” says Cheyenne. “She’s taught us to be happy and to take on the day with fresh eyes and a big smile.” Especially that last part.
