Fly like an eagle

-

NOTHING BRINGS TO MIND a sense of freedom like the sight of an eagle soaring through the sky, high above the world. But when this young golden eagle got too close to the highway and was hit by a car, that freedom was all but gone. Sitting on the double yellow lines, with cars zooming past and no way to get back into full flight, he was lucky to be spotted by a concerned woman, who called the Wild Friends emergency line.

He was rushed to the Sanctuary, where Best Friends’ state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitation staff checked him over for injury. His wings seemed properly aligned and there was no blood, but for some reason he couldn’t fly. He needed physical therapy, as well as time to heal and regain his strength. He has that now at the Sanctuary, where staff are working hard to get the eagle in shape to be released back to the wild. Soon, he will be free to fly once more.
