Commission­ers to discuss burn ban, schedule Town Hall

Howard County Commission­ers will convene for a regular meeting Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the Third Floor Courtroom at the Howard County Courthouse. Commission­ers have also called a special Town Hall Meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.

The Special Session will take place in the Commission­er's Courtroom, on the third floor of the Howard County Courthouse. The Town Hall will focus on the County Assistance District. Tuesday's meeting will be the first of two, with the second meeting taking place on Oct. 6 also at 6 p.m. During the Town Halls the community will have an opportunit­y to voice their input regarding the district.

During the regular meeting on Monday, Commission­ers will address a fairly routine agenda.

Howard County Judge Kathryn Wiseman will lead discussion on the Commission­er Court and Holiday Schedule for FY 2021 before turning the discussion toward training regarding the Howard County Emergency Management Coordinato­r.

The Commission­er's will be looking at nomination­s for members on the Board of Directors for Howard County Appraisal District and consider and possibly take action on a City and County Interlocal Agreement.

A maintenanc­e agreement for the the chiller and boiler service plan will also be proposed for considerat­ion by the Commission­ers.

Judge Tim Yeats will be addressing the Commission­ers regarding a designatio­n of auxiliary court facility. After hearing from Yeats the Court could move to take action on the request.

Road Engineer Brian Klinksiek will be presenting material bids to the Commission­ers during Monday's meeting. The bids will include LRA for FY2021, Flex Base for FY 2021

and GRH CR 34. Klinksiek will also be discussing a contract RFB 2020006 GRH CR 34//Permission to proceed from TXDOT, Notice of Intent with TCEQ and possible start date from contractor. In addition, he will be seeking permission to go out for bid on RFB 2020007 GRH CR 35 PH 1.

Commission­er Craig Baily, Pct. 2 will also be bringing up the possibilit­y of placing the burn ban

regarding burning of trash.

Before the meeting concludes, County Clerk Brent Zitterkopf will discuss process/policy with Commission­er Court documents that are required to be signed by all other parties/entities before they are approved in court.

Other routine agenda items include:

• Invoices, purchase requests and budget amendments

• Treasurer's monthly payroll report, personnel considerat­ions

• Roadway maintenanc­e update
