Bulldogett­es stomp Mccamey 61-18 for second straight win

COAHOMA — Within the first few minutes of play, Julia Cox struck first for the Bulldogett­es when she buried a basket from behind the arc to begin Coahoma’s steamroll over the Mccamey Lady Badgers for a 61-18 victory.

Coahoma was effective in shutting down the McCamey offense for all four quarters. By halftime, the Bulldogett­es hit the locker room with a comfortabl­e 34-8 lead.

Makynlee Overton led Coahoma in points amassing 18 all of which came in the first three quarters of play. Julia Cox earned 14 points for Coahoma including three three-pointers.

Rounding out the top Coahoma scorers was Katelyn Johnson who tallied four two-point baskets and four free throws for a total of 12 points. Isabella Cox got five points. Madison Rodgers, Brynn Rodgers, and Kenzi Canales all earned four points each.

In sub-varsity action, the JV Bulldogett­es continued their win streak with an impressive 43-23 victory over Mccamey. So far, the JV Coahoma girls squad has gone 7-1 this season.

Shae Lang and Cayhill Lewis led the JV Bulldogett­es to victory with 16 points each. Karliegh Burt tallied six and Analyse Mendoza nailed a 3-pointer in the third quarter. Delia Rawls got the last shot off in the quarter with a sweet 2-point basket at the buzzer.

Next: Coahoma (7-4) will host Garden City on Saturday, 4:30 p.m. The JV Bulldogett­es will play at 2 p.m.
