Callon Petroleum donates funds for Marcy window wraps
They announce to the world that this campus is the home of the Marcy Elementary School Steers in flashy black and gold livery - but that's not all they do.
“Not only does it look good, it's just another safety measure for us,” said BSISD Superintendent Jay Mcwilliams at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce Marcy's new window wraps Friday morning. “You can't be looking in. If you haven't noticed around here, we're very safety-conscious. I think we lead West Texas, honestly, in things we do for the safety of our kids and our employees.” While the window wraps look flashy and announce the school's Steer Pride to people looking at the school, they also prevent people with possible nefarious intent from scouting Marcy's students through the windows.
“I think it's outstanding that Callon Petroleum is willing to give back to the community, to come out and try to help our school district in any which way they can,” Mcwilliams said. “I give a lot of credit to (Marcy Principal) Mrs. (Treena) Foster for talking to Callon about it and presenting her idea to Callon. You know, any time any company in the Permian Basin is willing to help the school district and help our kids, I'm all for it and I'm just very, very appreciative of them helping us out at Big Spring ISD.”
Permian Basin Operations Manager with Callon Petroleum John Gray said the Midland-based company loves giving back to the community.
“Several of our operators live in this area, and several kids go to school here that are extended family of our employees,” Gray said. “Something that we always try to do is be aware of where we're operating, how can we give back to the community positively. It's something we look to do more of in the coming years.”
