Margaret Moreno Ortega, fondly called Lita, 84, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Methodist Church of Big Spring with Pastor Ricky Carstensen officiatin­g with burial at Mount Olive Cemetery. Margaret was born on March 25, 1938, to Maria and Gregorio Moreno in Big Spring, Texas. Margaret married Margarito Ortega on May 12, 1957. They had four children, Mike, Debbie, Arthur and Linda. Margaret worked at the Big Spring Independen­t School District in Food Services and retired in 1996. Margaret enjoyed family gatherings and dancing. Margaret was a devout Christian and was a life-long member of the Methodist church.

Margaret is survived by a son, Arthur Ortega, of Big Spring; two daughters, Debbie Ortega (Ricardo), of Mckinney, and Linda Lopez (Michael) of Hutto; nine grandchild­ren, Mark Ortega, Sonya Martinez (Jake), Britnie Martinez (Robert), Courtnie Zamarripa (Xavier), Jacob Ortega (Ashley), Jefferey White (Aryn), Timothy White (Ashlen), Lindsey Olivares (Solomon) and Phillip Sosa; 10 great-grandchild­ren: Thomas, Marcus, Leila, Jay, Camille, Sloan, Max, Gunner, Judge and Emiliano; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Sosa of Big Spring.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Margarito; a son, Mike; one brother, Jose; six sisters, Maria, Juanita, Eustolia, Luz, Rosa and Anita.

Pallbearer­s will be Mark Ortega, Timothy White, Phillip Sosa, Thomas Campos, Raul Marquez Jr. and Ricardo Garcia.
