County Clerk’s office to be recognized for excellence award

Howard County Commission­ers will hold a workshop at 1 p.m. Monday, followed by their regular meetting at 3:30 p.m. Both meetings will take place at the Howard County Courthouse; the workshop in the second floor judge's conference room, and the meeting in the third floor courtroom.

During the workshop, commission­ers hear from County Auditor Jackie Olson, who will present a budget review and financial report.

Judge Randy Johnson will present four items for discussion and possible action: an update on current EDC projects by EDC Director Mark Willis; talking points for the upcoming Howard County Summit; an overview of Commission­ers' Court procedures; and updates on ongoing Courthouse projects.

Road Engineer Brian Klinksiek will present an item on a Man Camp Subdivisio­n Plat.

At the 3:30 meeting, Judge Johnson will lead things off witth recognitio­n of the County Clerk's office for receiving the Texas Health and Human Services Recognitio­n for Excellence in the Vital Statistics Registrati­on process.

Judge Johnson will also accept monthly reports from county officials, and present certificat­es relating to judicial training, pipeline safety training, and newly elected officials; as well as Public Officials Emergency Management G-200 Training Course hours.

Emergency Management Coordinato­r Itzel Gomez will present items relating to emergency warming centers and the purchase of an emergency radio.

County Treasurer Sharon

Adams will present personnel considerat­ions and the monthly payroll report for January; as well as an item on renewal of the TAC/ARTS membership for the county. TAC/ARTS is the Texas Associatio­n of Counties/affordable Care Act Reporting and Trackiing System.

County Auditor Olson will present a disburseme­nt agreement for the commission­ers' approval; as well as invoices, purchase requests, and budget amendments. She will also present a change order for commission­ers'

approval.

Commission­er Cash Berry (Precinct 2) will present a burn ban proposal.

Commission­er Jimmie Long (Precinct 3) will request permission to go out for bids for landscapin­g services at the Courthouse.

Commission­er Doug Wagner (Precinct 4) will present an item on solar developmen­t with Berkshir Hathaway Energy Renewables.

County Sheriff Stan Parker will present his annual Racial Profiling Report for 2022.

County Clerk Brent Zitterkopf will present his monthly report for January.

Road Engineer Klinksiek will present his regular Roadway Maintenanc­e Update, as well as the subdivisio­n applicatio­n for a revised Man Camp in Precinct 2. He will also present an item regarding making the Road and Bridge Office the point of contact for subdivisio­n permits, and an item requesting permission to auction various county vehicles.

The commission­ers will have an opportunit­y to mention items for future meeting agendas before the meeting is adjourned.
