Angela’s A Working Society
Let me just jump right in to the brutal honesty that this column, blog, whatever was created for!
What on earth has happened to our society? Some will blame politics, others throw the blame on a generational issue. Our world is suffering. Momand-pop businesses are being forced to close. What a sad, tragic situation we face.
Do people not want to work? Young, able-bodied individuals are wasting away, failing to give the little eyes watching a strong work ethic. Does that mean….it will get worse? I’m sickened.
All over Howard County, employers are almost begging for employees. I hear all the time from business owners , “People want a paycheck, but refuse to put in the work for it.” Businesses have raised wages and benefits in attempts to attract applicants, and still suffer the short-staffed effects. I’m thankful I was raised differently.
Individuals all over social media complain about Big Spring. Here’s what they’re saying:
Shelly B. said, “There’s nothing here.” Hmmm… maybe because you’re traveling out of town and not giving our town a chance. We have so many locally owned boutiques and shops that you’ve likely never walked into!
Brian R. said, “I’ve applied literally everywhere!” Ha…..uh no ya haven’t. Orrrrr….were you the one we set up an interview with and you didn’t show? Try the old fashioned way and walk into the business to apply, rather than waiting on someone to comment on your “Who’s hiring?!” post.
Step it up sister! Are you doing anything to assist in improving Big Spring? Are you taking your concerns to the right departments? Or are you sitting at home, scrolling and trolling Facebook and waiting to jump on someone’s negative bandwagon?!
Let me hand it to ya straight… We have to do better as a society; as a whole. You and I can complain to each other all day long, but guess what? If the powers-that-be don’t know when something is broken, how will they know to fix it?
There are so many ways to step in and step up. It starts with you.
