Rachel Hilario Perez, 61, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023. The family will receive friends and family from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Nalleypick­le & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, at the Nalley-pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Rachel was born August 1, 1961, in Big Spring. She was the daughter of the late Victoriano S. Hilario and Guadalupe Arriola Hilario.

She was a devoted and loving mother who moved between Big Spring and San Antonio over the years spent raising her daughter.

She returned to Big Spring permanentl­y in 2017. A hard working woman she worked the cotton fields in her younger days and had supported her family through housekeepi­ng and custodial work for many years. She had worked with the Big Spring ISD and also the San Antonio ISD over these years. Rachel was a welcoming individual and would open her home to friends and family alike. She had “a heart of gold.” Rachel loved music and dancing and was a collector of knickknack­s.

She is survived by: her daughter, Guadalupe “Lupita” Hilario; her siblings, Victoriano Hilario (Maria), Ruben Hilario (Margarita), Rebecca Brito, Magdalena Hilario, her twin brother Richard Hilario, Rolando Hilario and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pascuila; her brother, Oscar; and nephews, Alfredo Ledesma III, Jose Brito, and Jose Hilario.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Nalley-pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
