Doyle Hale, 96, of Stanton, went to be with Our Lord Sunday Oct. 8, 2023 in Big Spring. He will lie in state Monday Oct.r 16, at Nalleypick­le and Welch Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Trinity Memorial Peace Chapel.

Doyle was born Nov. 2, 1927 to Charlie and Nettie Hale (Pace) in Loraine. He was the third child of 11. He moved to Martin County as a boy from a farm in Mitchell County to a family farm in Martin County when he was 9 years-old in a Model T truck. He worked on the farm for many years until WW2. He joined the Marine Corps and faithfully served in Guam. He married Clairese Modelle Long July 19, 1950 and settled in Big Spring, following his discharge.

Doyle was very active in the community being a Boy Scout Leader, while he worked as a truck driver for Tommy Gage. He continued supporting his community when the family moved back to Martin County in 1966 to farm as well as leading Boy Scouts. He served as a County Commission­er. Doyle was a dedicated cotton farmer for many years. He is well remembered for attending dances, leading parades, telling stories, and genuinely caring for everyone around him. He could be found at many sporting events at Grady with a cup of coffee in hand. After his wife passed away he took up woodwork to keep his hands and mind busy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clairese, many friends, and family members.

Survivors include two sons: Gary Hale and Rodney and Peggy Hale; 3 grandchild­ren: Matt Hale, Brandi and Ryan Grant, Heather and Jobe Christon; 9 great-grandchild­ren: Brooke and James Sanders, Evan Luttrell, Kaitlyn, Cameron Collin, Kurstyn Grant, Jayden, Johanna and Julianna Christon; 1 great-great-grandchild: Jameson Sanders; 1 sister: Betty Sue Crocker and 1 brother Kenneth Hale.
