- By PATRICK GONZALES HERALD Sports Editor

We enter week six of the Big Spring Herald's Athletes of the Week voted by you the fans! Again there were many top performers in week four from our Crossroads teams and once again the fans have spoken!

This week's Male and Female Athletes of the Week, voted by you the fans, are Hayden Bowlin from Forsan and Bree Lewis from Coahoma.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

HAYDEN BOWLIN – FORSAN BUFFALOES FOOTBALL

Known for it's physical running game on offense, the Forsan Buffaloes have mixed it up this season adding in the passing game to it's offesnisve repertoire. Just last week in their district opener against Reagan County, Forsan put up 442 yards of offense with 173 yards of those yards on just receiving. Sophomore Hayden Bowlin was responsible for the bulk of the Buffaloes yardage in the air as he finished the game with 120 yards receiving off of 3 catches that also included a 76 yard touchdown pass to open up the game. The sophomore receiver has been a threat to opposing secondaries so far this season with his speed and physical style of play. Not only is he a threat on offense but on defense as well serving as strong cover corner for the Buffaloes. “Hayden is an explosive player that can score from anywhere on the field. Defensively, his speed and athleticism also make him a great cover corner. Hayden has developed into a good tackler and physical blocker on the edge.” Forsan head

coach Jason Phillips said of Bowlin.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

BREE LEWIS – COAHOMA BULLDOGETTES VOLLEYBALL

The Coahoma varsity volleyball team is currently sitting in third place in District 3-3A and is greta position to make the playoffs this season. The Bulldogettes have a plethora of key players on the team but one player continues to be a consistent factor in each game. Sophomore Bree Lewis, who plays outside hitter and setter, continues to be a factor for the Bulldogettes while on the court. Lewis currently leads the team in kills and assists this season so far. In her last game, Lewis' effort almost helped Coahoma walk away with a win over last year's district champion in Odessa Compass. In that game, Lewis finished with 16 kills, 1 assist, 3 blocks, and 4 digs. ““Bree plays a major role on our team and is a driving force behind our offense, leading the team in kills as well as assists per set. She plays hard and has consistently been someone we rely on to make big plays for us. She has a bright future ahead of her in this sport.” Coahoma head volleyball coach Jamie Bonner said of Lewis.

Congratulations to both Bree Lewis and Hayden Bowlin on being named this week's Big Spring Heralds Athletes of the Week.
